About the Press

The Editorial tradition of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico dates back to 1815 at the Literary Institute of the State of Mexico, when the Typography and Lithography Workshops of the newly created institution were inaugurated.

Hand in hand with its dedication to writing and book production, the University has walked closely alongside science.

At the origins of the UAEMéx, there was a moment in which it was known as Scientific and Literary Institute, a heritage of the Independence Movement that Mexico experienced during the first decades of the 19th Century.

Nearly two centuries after its scientific and editorial birth, our Maximum Study House, preserves this vocation, and over time, it has decentralized this function across various bodies responsible for publishing books and journals throughout different university spaces. One of these is the Secretariat of Science, currently responsible for academic and scientific non-periodical publications.

A core function of this Secretariat is to publish books derived from research and knowledge acquired by university professors and researchers across various fields; additionally, it seeks to attract knowledge and experimentation from external sources to enrich its own community and the social sphere.

The Secretariat of Science, formerly the Secretariat of Research and Advanced Studies, has driven the publishing of books in both printed and electronic formats, recognizing that editorial activity is essential to the consolidation, preservation and dissemination of the research results generated at UAEMéx.

In alignment within the New Science Model of UAEMéx, where scientific, humanistic, and technological knowledge generated with public funds is conceived as a digital public good oriented toward social well-being, equity and epistemic justice, it is imperative to provide digital platforms that enable its open-access dissemination and reuse. This enhances not only the visibility of our institution’s researchers but also fosters national and international academic collaboration.
Within this context, the Open Book Collection of the Secretariat of Science integrates works from diverse fields of knowledge, such as natural and exact sciences, social sciences, humanities, engineering, and technology, reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of university academic production and its commitment to free access to knowledge.

Welcome to the Digital Platform of Open Books of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico, a space that promotes the democratization of knowledge and strengthens the bond between the University and Society.
